Ceramic Cookware
What Is Ceramic Cookware
Ceramic cookware has an interior and exterior coating composed of silicon dioxide (silica), applied over an aluminum core and cured by exposure to high temperatures. This creates a glassy, slick surface that food won’t stick to. These pots and pans are available in a wide range of colors and sizes, which is a big part of their current appeal.
Advantages of Ceramic Cookware
No-Stick Coating
The coating on the inside of a ceramic pot or pan functions similarly to that of non stick cookware, providing a frictionless surface for cooking eggs, fish, and other delicate, stick-prone foods. Ceramic cookware can be a solid option for those trying to cook with less fat, since you won’t need as much oil or butter to keep food from sticking.
Easy to Clean
This one’s pretty straightforward—since food naturally releases more easily from the surface of a ceramic pot or pan, you won’t need to scour or soak your ceramic cookware. To clean ceramic pans, just give it a gentle scrub with dish soap and a soft sponge to remove any debris. The only factors to keep in mind are avoiding abrasive tools like steel wool at all costs—and keeping it far away from the dishwasher.
Induction-Compatible
If you’re looking for a pan that’s compatible with an induction cooktop, ceramic cookware is a solid option that's typically compatible across all types of cooktops, from induction to gas to electric, provided it's made of the right materials.

There Are Different Types of Ceramic Cookware
100% Ceramic
The traditional method of clay that is shaped, fired, and glazed constitutes 100% ceramic cookware.
Ceramic coated metal
This is where the pot or pan is metal (aluminum or stainless steel) and the interior is coated with ceramic. These types of ceramic coated cookware are often made of chemical finishes and heavy metals.
Lead-free ceramic
Both 100% ceramic and ceramic coated metal cookware can contain lead in the glaze. To address this concern, some manufacturers use a lead-free glaze.
Ceramic Cookware Maintenance Tips
Upkeeping ceramic cookware isn’t complicated. It doesn’t require seasoning or special cleaning. Just mild soap and water will do most of the time. This ease is what makes ceramic nonstick cookware ideal for home cooks who are building up their confidence in the kitchen. You can slide a piece of gochujang-glazed salmon right off the pan and not spend the next 10 minutes scrubbing the remnants. Here are some things you can do to keep your ceramic nonstick cookware nonstick for longer.
Avoid high temperatures
While ceramic nonstick cookware can withstand higher temperatures than traditional ptfe nonstick cookware, it’s still best to use low- to medium-heat temperatures. The coating naturally wears over time and the higher the heat, the faster it’ll fade.
Use non-abrasive utensils
Wooden and silicone utensils are always recommended to keep the coating intact. But we also know that things can get hectic in the kitchen. What happens if you grab your metal fish spatula by mistake? Are scratched ceramic pans safe? As long as they’re made without potential toxins, then yes. A scratched surface will just make your ceramic nonstick pan less, well, nonstick.
Hand wash only
To preserve the ceramic coating, hand wash your cookware with warm, soapy water and a soft sponge. Skip the abrasive cleaners and harsh detergents — yes, even when food is really stuck on. You can loosen it by boiling baking soda and water or create a paste from baking soda and white vinegar and let it sit and work its magic.
Store carefully
Never stack heavy items on top of your ceramic-coated cookware. If you do need to place pots and pans on top of each other, slide something soft in between them to act as a protective barrier.

How to judge whether it is the Best Ceramic Cookware
The first thing to consider is the quality of the ceramic material itself. Look for pieces that are made from high-quality materials and are free of lead and other toxins. Additionally, it’s important to look at how well the cookware conducts heat and how evenly it distributes it throughout the cooking surface. Finally, make sure you read reviews from previous customers so you know what others think about a product before making your purchase. With these tips in mind, you’ll be able to choose the best ceramic cookware for your kitchen!
The best ceramic cookware is non-toxic, scratch-resistant, and durable. It should have a non-stick coating that won't flake off over time and can handle temperatures of up to 500°F. Look for products that are dishwasher safe as well as easy to clean by hand. While ceramic cookware is usually more expensive than other types, it's a worthwhile investment since it can last for years with proper care. When shopping for ceramic cookware, look for pieces from trusted brands with good customer reviews.
When it comes to finding the best ceramic cookware, there are a few factors to consider. First, you’ll want to think about how easy it is to use and clean. Ceramic cookware tends to be very durable and is often dishwasher safe for added convenience. Additionally, ceramic cookware is non-stick, so food won’t stick as easily and cleanup will be much simpler. Finally, good quality ceramic cookware should also have good thermal conductivity, meaning it will heat up quickly and evenly without hotspots or cold spots in the pan. Ultimately, when choosing your ceramic cookware make sure you look for these features as they will help ensure you get the best cooking experience possible!
Ceramic Bakeware
What Is Ceramic Bakeware
When you think of ceramic bakeware, you may think of your grandmother's flower-patterned casserole dish. However, ceramic bakeware has come a long way in recent years, and there are now many options available for the home cook. Ceramic baking dishes are ideal for use in wood pizza ovens, as they can withstand high temperatures without breaking. In addition, ceramic bakeware evenly distributes heat, ensuring that food is cooked evenly. As a result, ceramic bakeware is often the best choice for cooking delicate items such as fish or custards. Finally, ceramic bakeware is easy to clean and is often dishwasher-safe. For all these reasons, ceramic baking dishes are a great option for the home cook.
Advantages of Ceramic Bakeware
Bring out the natural taste of your food
One benefit of using ceramic baking dishes is that they bring out the natural taste of your food. Ingredients like herbs and spices stand out in the dish because there is no need to add fat to cook your food. Instead of being drowned under the strong tastes of butter and olive oil, delicate flavors can stand for themselves.
Ensure cleanliness
Ceramic dishes also ensure cleanliness. We often cook our pizzas by placing them on the floor of the oven. This is totally okay! However, for those who are sensitive to embers, ceramic dishes are a good option for keeping your food away from ash.
Retain the heat
There are a few other benefits to ceramic cookware, as well. It may take a little longer to heat up a ceramic dish, but it will retain the heat. This means your food is cooked evenly.
Ceramic does not scratch
This is good news to those of you who love scraping up that last bite of food. Your ceramic dishes will help create a beautiful and functional table setting for daily use or on those special occasions.

Ceramic bakeware is made from — you guessed it — ceramic materials. Ceramic bakeware is made with kiln-fired clay. Typically, this clay is a type of fireclay, which is highly heat-resistant and doesn't deform or melt at high temperatures. However, not all ceramic bakeware is the same. For pots and pans, in particular, you'll notice two terms:
Ceramic-coated: Most ceramic-coated cookware has a metal core and a thin ceramic coating on top. 100% ceramic: Pure ceramic bakeware only contains ceramic materials and has no metal core. You may be familiar with the term ceramic — it's the material that a lot of pottery creations have been made from for thousands of years. You'll find ceramics in a variety of products, including bricks, tiles, plates, watches, cars, and even spaceship tiles and the nose cones of airplanes. These days, the word ceramic appears on cookware, too, as it's now a popular option for cooking due to its safety.
Ceramic materials are inorganic and nonmetallic, which is an incredibly broad classification, but the most common example is clay. An important distinction for ceramics is that manufacturers fire them in kilns at high temperatures, which turns soft ceramic substances into hard, heat-resistant products. Ceramics are not all brittle and delicate — their composition and firing temperature create a variety of ceramic types that range in durability and hardness.
Features To Look for When Buying Ceramic Bakeware
Nonstick surface
If a piece of bakeware cooks well but is difficult to clean and maintain, you may leave it stuck in a cupboard for the rest of its life. No one wants to stand at the sink scrubbing dishes for hours. When it comes to cleaning bakeware, you can’t beat ceramic nonstick. The surface is created to easily release food, and the silicone coating does a fine job.
Glazed surface
For those who don’t enjoy nonstick materials, a glazed surface is the next best option and what you will find in stoneware ceramic bakeware sets. A glazed surface is sometimes called “low-stick” since the glaze creates a shiny surface that is easy to clean. Easy to wash away stuck-on food. It may eventually scratch but is still usable since the entire piece is food-safe. Glazed ceramic bakeware can handle high heat, even the broiler.
Handles and lids
Not all bakeware has handles or a lid; however, I search for the ones that do. It doesn’t always work with some pieces, such as a pie plate or cake pan, but handles add safety to some baking dishes, especially when wearing those bulky oven mitts. Handles make it easier to lift to and from the oven. Lids keep food warm before serving. Easily store away leftovers in the refrigerator.
A variety of shapes and sizes
A bakeware set should give you some variety. Even a 2-piece set should give two different options. A set with multiple pieces of the same shape and size isn’t very useful. Matching pieces that offer a variety of uses. One-stop shopping instead of searching for separate pieces in different shapes and sizes.
Care of Kitchen Ceramic Bakeware
Ceramic bakeware is naturally nonstick, easy to clean, and evenly distributes heat for consistent baking. It is important to properly use, clean, and store your products to ensure your bakeware lasts.
Before first use
Before using, wash the bakeware with hot, soapy water, then rinse and dry thoroughly. It is not necessary to season ceramic/stoneware bakeware before use.
Using ceramic/stoneware bakeware
Ceramic/stoneware bakeware is oven-safe up to 500°f/260°c and microwave-safe. Although our products are durable, the following is recommended to avoid damaging your bakeware or kitchen surfaces: Allow frozen ceramic/stoneware to warm to room temperature before placing it in a hot oven or microwave. Do not place hot ceramic/stoneware bakeware directly on countertops, tables, or cold or wet surfaces. Instead, use a trivet to avoid damage. Add a small amount of oil, butter, liquid, or sauce to the bottom of your ceramic or stoneware bakeware before cooking to grease it. Use wood, nylon, silicone, plastic, or bamboo utensils on ceramic/stoneware bakeware. Do not use metal utensils, as these may scratch the surface. Do not use your ceramic or stoneware bakeware on a stovetop or grill, over a direct flame or campfire, or under the broiler.
Ceramic/stoneware bakeware care and cleaning
Although ceramic/stoneware is dishwasher safe, hand-washing products in warm, soapy water is recommended; rinse and dry with a soft towel. Use rubber gloves for a better grip when washing, rest the product on the bottom of your sink while scrubbing, and use both hands to hold it while rinsing to avoid breaking bakeware. For best results while washing, we recommend the following: Use a mild detergent and a sponge or soft dishcloth to hand wash ceramic/stoneware; do not use oven cleaners, harsh detergents, chlorine bleach, steel wool, or nylon scrubbing pads. Do not hold hot ceramics under cold water, as this may cause cracking. Allow bakeware to cool naturally and completely before cleaning and storing.
To remove baked-on residue from ceramics, soak products in hot, soapy water for 15 to 20 minutes or for as long as necessary before placing them in the dishwasher.
Storing ceramic bakeware
Ceramic/stoneware bakeware should always be thoroughly washed and dried before being stored in a clean, well-ventilated location.
